In which, Napoleon’s army is forced into a battle against
advancing Allied armies. Russians attack in the centre via La
Rothiere village. A great cavalry duel. Austrian, Bavarian
and Wurttemberg flanking attacks towards Dienville and
Morvilliers. Snow begins to fall. Russians take La Rothiere.
The Young Imperial Guard counter-attack in force.
Napoleon withdraws.

This Great Battle scenario supplement recreates the Battle
of La Rothiere in five scenarios, which can be played as
stand alone games or as a series of scenarios to refight the
entire day's battle. It does not cover the entire battle, but
the five main engagements of the afternoon and evening’s
fighting. The actual battle was a French defeat, but only
marginally as the Napoleon withdrew his forces in good
order and the Allied pursuit was slow and lacked purpose
and allowed him time to regroup to fight again. The battle
was Napoleon’s first defeat on French soil, something that
would give the Allied commanders great heart, they knew
the Emperor of France and his army was now vulnerable
and far from invincible in the field.
