The 2024 Gripping Beast Grand Melee moves to the very heart of the UK wargaming scene, Nottingham, and will take place over the weekend of 9-11th August at the BHGS Britcon Wargames Convention and Trade Show.
This year we will have range of Gripping Beast events for you to take part in, including (of course) the Official Saga Grand Melee, as well as Saga Iron Man and Swordpoint, all fully supported by the team at Gripping Beast
While gaming officially starts on the morning of the 10th, the venue will be open from mid afternoon on Friday, and we will be arranging a fun event for those arriving on the Friday and wanting to meet old and new friends and have some fun before battle commences

Venue & Directions
Nottingham City Campus conference and event centre - see here for full details. Weekend and Daily parking for Britcon is at the car park on Talbot Street, Nottingham NG1 5GG, which is 2 minutes walk from either the venue and our onsite accommodation block in nearby student halls of residence. Nottingham Mainline Station is a 15 minute walk from Nottingham City Campus, and is also connected by Tram. Nottingham is well connected to many cross country and inter city routes, including being 2-2.5 hours on a direct line from St Pancras, the Eurostar terminus in London making this year's Grand Melee easily accessible from Europe by rail. East Midlands Airport is the closest airport to Nottingham City Campus, and is just 15 miles outside the city with a Skylink bus service running every half an hour into the city centre, from where you can walk or get the tram to the venue.
Entry Fee
Entry fees include early access to the venue from lunchtime on Friday for social gaming (or just socializing!), a grab-bag lunch on both Saturday & Sunday, entrty to the trade show and a £5 voucher to spend with any of the traders at the Britcon Trade show over the weekend (including of course The Beast who will have a trade stand at the show) in with your tournament entry. Onsite Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Student accommodation is also available in nearby Halls of Residence. This event is being organised and administered by the BHGS as part of their Britcon Convention, and so any queries regarding ticketing should be directed to the BHGS.
